Part 3: House Deco

Kitty theme, so it comes with Kitty Banner. Nothing fancy, I just googled and printed them out. Glue them on the string and that's it.

Then put up another "Happy Birthday" and balloons, I called it a 'decoration" already. Not really a good job, but I have placed more emphasis on the craft part.

Well, kids were thrilled to see these. So, "mission" complete!

Part 2: Birthday Card Invitation

Oh Ya, one of the things that I found during the googling process is this special INVITATION CARD!

I love it the moment I saw it!! I find it so cool and interesting! It is like a movie ticket as it comes with bar code and special message --> VIP

I just need to print it out and paste them on a thicker cardboard paper. Viola!

Then, I get Ern to write the guest name and her own name. She really thought her mummy is going to fix a bar code scanner upon guest arrival with this card! LOL

When I distributed to the mummies of her friends, I told them to inform their girls to bring. I wanted the girls to start feel the excitement the moment they received the card!!! Vain, I know I know!

Isn't this fun??!!!

Part 1: Pre-Party Preparation

For many nights when I tugged the kids to bed, I asked Ching Ern (during our girls talks!) what she wanted for her 5yo birthday party theme. Her answer has been consistent --> Hello Kitty!

About 1+ month prior to the party, I have decided to do a 'art and craft' session with the girls. Btw, her friends are all girls, so that make things much easy to plan! Being a scrapbooker myself, I have lots of scrapbook material with me. So I thought it should be easy.

Well, it turned out not as easy as I thought since I wanted things to go along with the Hello Kitty theme. I started to google for ideas on craft work, how to decorate the house, party food, etc. It turned out either the idea is too complicated for 5-6 yo to handle or I personally find it too complicated to do it myself!! :-)

In the end, I have to look for simple craft ideas and 'customized' myself. I started to do 1 sample of each craft work to have a feel how it looks like. At the same time, I know sample will create more "visual excitement" for the girls. Oh well, a sample also help me to explain the steps easier.

Then I started to prepare six sets of material for the girls. The measuring, cutting, sticking took a while and luckily, I have helper to help me.

As there were quite a number of craft work to do, I have packed them nicely in individual bags and label them accordingly. Ha, take it as I am an organized person :-)

If you see the box clearly, it's actually a shoes box. So, I packed all the staff into a shoe box and printed out a photo and stick on top.

Stay tuned for more...

Concentration Span

Well, Ern still has some room to work on her concentration span. She can't really sit down focusing on her task without creating "interruption" in between.

The interruption can be:

1) Drink water ( not only once but few times )
2) Tired and wanted to sleep
3) Walk up and down
4) Ask us question
5) Tell story - what had happened either on the day or the day before

We are trying to teach her the importance of 'stay focus' and 'concentrate'. She understands the 'theory' but didn't 'execute' smoothly! LOL!!

Girl oh girl, wondering how many 'repeats' (or nagging?!) should i need to continue on??! Let's see.

Chop..Chop...Chop...

As much as I can, I try to prepare weekend activities that suit both kids. One of them is drawing.

I put up big mahjong paper on the fence wall and let the kids draw. You know, the free style drawing type. Fast and simple. They can do brush paint, finger pain and at times, I get them addiitonal tool, like ladies finger, lotus root, etc.

Well, well, little girl still enjoyed drawing although she can't really draw well, despite after attended addtional art & craft class. Ha, my expectation is simple - if that's something she has interest, I am willing to expose her to try. Wheather she does well, it's secondary. I want her to be happy and have the interest to thins. I have to constantly remind myself, my kids don't live for me but themselves. Neither they need to continue the deams that I didn't get to fulfill when I was a child (帮我圆梦)!

Growing Stage..

At times, I am in dilemma when it comes to my parenting life.

On one hand, I want the kids to grow fast so that I can have more 'me only' time. You know, I don't need to bath them, feed, etc..

At the same times, I find my kids grow up so fast I started to miss their baby/toddler time. I missed carrying them in my arms, their baby smell, the tidy cute clothes, run my hands on their tiny feet/fingers,etc...

Sigh, this is called life! Like a Chinese proverbs says: You gain something, you lose something as well.

Oh My...

When I look at this photo of Ching Ern, she looks so tall and grow up!

Lazy me, never get the initiative to learn about photo processing even i have the hardware and software ready...sigh...find time is not enough, I need to create time!!!!

Ern turns 5!!

Time flies. My little princess turns 5 today!!

I can still remember my labor experience and the unforgettable 2+hour of push to get her out!!! Not forgetting, to go through with her with worries and many sleepless nights on her 'special' experiences (you can read from here and here) since young. Oh ya, there is something I didn't blog earlier. We just got to know Ching Ern remembers her past life! It happened in April during the Cheng Beng and that's how we discovered it! She can tell us she has seen her Great Grandparents in where and the best ever, she told me " I also see Daddy and Mummy, but you both different face!".

Scary isn't it??!! Honestly, that made me and hubby to be a stronger person in our parenting journey.

Happy Birthday, Princess!

PS: I threw a party for her. Will blog soon with photos and details. So stay tuned.

Art Craft

I heart this photo - the facial expression, the colors and most importantly, the moment!
( the art apron is handmade by MIL)

Whenever I can, especially during weekend I will spend time with Ern to do craft work. This was a recommendation from her school teacher to cultivate her creativity while also improve on their motor skill.

We had so much fun together, even the session can be as short as 15mins. So much so, she has been asking for it almost everyday! :-) I am glad she enjoyed the session.

So now, my study room is full of craft materials, from papers (various types), embellishment and empty boxes.

My little girl is on full concentration in painting

School Concert

I am back! After a LOOOOOOOOONG blog break. Well, I just lost the momentum of blogging but thankfully, I am still taking pictures and continue my paper scrapbooking. So, there is still some level of updating the kids growth milestone (although way way behind)

Ern had her school annual concert on 5th Dec 2010. In this picture, it was her last performance, which also the highlight of the entire concern - fashion show. Kids were dress up to their best, in modern and traditional costume. I tell you, I simply just love it! Sorry can't post the group children picture in view of confidentiality and respect of other kids.

Well, my little girl made the whole audience burst into laughter during her 'Panton" with 2 other of her friends. Just right after her turn, she whispered to her friend by saying "XX, it's your turn"!! Everyone can hear it so well because she was speaking in front of a microphone! Once the other 2 finished, she said again " XX, YY, bow and say thank you!" I tell you, it was so funny to see how my girl instruct her friends.

Ern surprised me to be one of the top 3 students in her class because I didn't expect that at all! During the Parent-Teacher Evaluation session, I have had comments on Ern to further improve on her school work and other areas. It wasn't that bad but I didn't expect she still get into top 3 places. This certainly made her proud and be more confident!

Let's Talk About L-O-V-E

When we (adults) are all tired, drained out, stress out or whatever "outs" that we have had, they will be gone when your kiddo tell you:

- Mum, you are the best!

- Daddy, enjoy your dinner

- Mum, thank you for taking me to XX (the places that we took them outing)

- Daddy, I love you.

Parenting never easy but it always paid off when we see our kids reminded us to think simple and happy! Well, that's the parenting package that I signed up! :-)
