3 More Days...

Yes,yes...3 more days to Ern's 1st birthday party...

I have split the crowd into 2 groups. Those with babies/toddler will come at 6.30pm while the remaining would be after 7.30pm. Priority is given to Ern's friends. :-)

Hopefully, we can have the cut caking session ~ 7.30pm so that Ern's friends get to go home early for their rest.

Those of you who are going, see you this Saturday!!

Gains from Play Group

I have read how their toddlers benefited from the playgroup here, here and here.

I think of all, Ching Ern and I benefited the most. Why I said so?

1) Ching Ern is the youngest among the group. So, I get to know a lots of tips and sharing from other mothers because what their child has gone through is what Ern will go through later on. In this way, it sort of prepare me how to handle the situation when it comes.

2) Each of us bring 1 toy whenever we meet during the playgroup. So, Ching Ern get to play a lot of toys while it helps me to gauge what kind of toys she likes. For example, Poh Poh almost wanted to buy the mobile Pooh bear (when you press certain part of the body, the bear will move while the music start to play) for Ern as her birthday present. I told Poh Poh to wait as I know Charlotte has one too. So, during the playgroup, i gave Ern this toy and she only played for less than 5 mins before she crawled always. When I told Poh Poh about it, we were greatful we didn't buy.

3) On the other hand, I noticed Ern likes the ride-on (there were 2 that day) although she hardly moved herself even her left feet was pushing it. 2 days after the playgroup, she has got one! An early birthday present from Brendon & Brenda. I will blog about it in another post.

4) I also get to know Ern has the 'potential' of being selfish. Maybe it is still premature to comment that but at least I can start to do something now to correct the situation. There were 2 instances I noticed during the playgroup. While she was playing the mula with Sze Yi, she pulled the mula away and wanted to play by herself. Another instance is when both Charlotte and Ern played the "Hammer & Tool" toy, I noticed Ern grabbed the hammer from Charlotte many times.

Thanks to the mothers! I owe you all a lot!! :-)

Count Down to the BIG Day

As the title speaks, the family is in the mood of count down to Ern's BIG day:

Countdown to Birthday Party: 5 days
Countdown to Actual Birth date: 11 days

All preparation almost 90% done, except some the thing we can only do it on the day itself like decorate the house, food preparation, cake, etc.

Talking about cake, we were glad we placed the order earlier. We didn't realized the date on Ern's party is a 'Ong' (Ong in Hokkien means prosperous) day - 7/7/07. Everything 7, so easy to remember and memorable. Until the lady at the cake house told us she has orders of 6 wedding cakes, 3-4 birthday cakes, only we realized about the unique day.

We will be engaging food catering from an ex-chef from Rasa Sayang Hotel. I used the same caterer for my wedding reception 2 years ago. Reasonable price but more importantly, the food is good (at least to me).

Again, I have engaged Jo-Nee.com to be my 'art director' for this whole event, from Ern's handmade scrapbook to house deco. I am an i**iot when it comes to art/design/deco. So, I need to get someone to help me. If not, the guest may think they are entering a jungle!

Honestly, I am starting to feel the excitement since last week. It is as if like I am planning my own wedding. LOL! Can't wait for the day to come....

Tag: SAHM vs. FTWM

First time tagged by Wei Xuan's Mum whether I want to be a Stay At Home Mother (SAHM) or Full Time Working Mother (FTWM). Without much thinking, I choose to be a FTWM (at least for now) because:

1) I have slipped disc problem and if I were to take care of Ern myself for FULL DAY, my back will ache very badly. I can't cope with a FULL DAY carrying and bending.

2) I always believe woman needs to be financially independent for any 'just in case' situations (any situations you may think off).

3) I don't like to cook. So, I have 'excuse' of not cooking being a FTWM ! (lazy mum & wife)

4) I have 'excuse' (yes, another one) to get myself more shoes and handbag. haha!!

5) I get to eat different type of food during lunch. If I am a STHM, I think mostly home-cooked food.

6) I like to hear some office gossips and observe how people dress to work.

*** Instruction***
Here’s how it works:
1. So easy peasy, if you were given a choice, would you be a SAHM or FTWM? Just provide 3 darn good reasons.
2. Include your post link to the list below and Finally,
3. Tag another three mommies

*** End of Instructions***

Not going to tag anyone as I believe most mommies already done this tag.

What Is She Doing?

This is what Ern will do when she is:

- Happy
- Excited
- Delighted
- Dancing

No one taught her about it. She Just Do It! :-)

She waves so 'lembek-ly'(i created this word!). I don't know if she mimics a bird spread its wings to fly...
